The humble battery

CAM magazine, Issue 90

This feature looks at the future (and history) of the humble battery and at the ever-evolving technologies behind the ability to store energy now and use it later. These models were created from original diagrams of the voltaic pile (Alessandro Volta, 1800), the gravity cell (John Frederic Daniell, 1836), and the first lead-acid battery (Gaston Planté, 1859).
