Whipplesnaith’s 1937 edition of The Night Climbers of Cambridge has been used as a guidebook for the nocturnal ascent of university buildings for decades. Cambridge alumnus and photographer John Bulmer sold this series of images to LIFE magazine in 1959, ending his university career at Cambridge in the process.
